Lloyd Einsiedel

Dr Einsiedel is a medical graduate of Flinders University. He has a PhD in the field of neurophysiology and completed post-graduate training in infectious diseases at the Alfred Hospital, Melbourne, where he also worked in the Neurovirology Unit at the Macfarlane Burnet Institute. He commenced as a Senior Staff Specialist at Alice Springs Hospital in 2005 before returning to the Flinders Medical Centre as an Infectious Diseases Physician in 2007. He continues to provide an infectious diseases service to central Australia. Dr Einsiedel’s clinical interests include the management of HIV, viral hepatitis, central nervous system infections and infectious diseases relevant to Indigenous populations. He has active research interests in Indigenous health with particular reference to interactions between the social determinants of health and infectious diseases, including the Human T-Lymphotropic Virus 1. Currently, he collaborates with groups at the Pasteur Institute, Paris, and Alexander von Humboldt Institute for Tropical Medicine, Lima, Peru.
